Chartwell Empress Kanata’sMemory Living Neighbourhoodis a supportive and independent environment for seniors living with dementia. Located on a secure floor on the ground level of the retirement residence, our Neighbourhood features interactively designed studio and one-bedroom suites with memory-cue signage, soothing colours, non-slip floors and large windows with views of our interior courtyard. With a unique person-centred approach to memory care, our trained and caring staff establish strong social connections with your loved one to foster trust and familiarity, and partner with you to learn each person’s life history.
To support the families of residents living with cognitive impairment, adedicated Social Workeris available to provide orientation, facilitate family conferences and deliver counselling services. We encourage you to reach out anytime to ourMemory Living Manager, who is on hand to provide the support you need and provide updates on your loved one’s happiness and well-being. In fact, one reason our neighbourhood has a wonderfully warm feel is thanks to family visiting so often. It isn’t uncommon to see family members staying to participate in an activity with a loved one, or out in the courtyard in the summertime firing up our barbecue!
